Family friendly, we are generally considered to be one of the quieter hostels in Cape Town. Facilities include leafy garden and courtyards with barbeque, fully equipped kitchen, cafe with internet access and the Blue Skies Travel Centre for all travel arrangements. Some of the rooms have good views of Table Mountain. We also provide comprehensive information; arrange airport shuttle, inexpensive car hire and tours.

We recycle garbage (with your help), use solar water heating (backed up electrically) and can arrange much needed tree planting in local townships should you wish to purchase carbon offsets.

Established in 1993 Zebra Crossing is featured in various travel guides including Rough Guide and South African Handbook. Footprints South Africa list us in their top ten and Lets Go Recommends.
Lonely Planet (2000 edition) say: "A good piano and a good atmosphere. Its one of our favorites".

Public transport is not very good in Cape Town. The best way from the airport is with a shuttle bus either booked on arrival at the airport or preferably booked in advance. The company we use is reliable and reasonable(R140 for one pax, R170 for 2 etc.) Zebra Crossing is approximately 20-30 minutes drive from the airport. A metered taxi from the airport costs around R200 as do most shuttles.

The train and bus station are situated adjacent one another in the city and again the only public transport is mini-bus taxis. Although they are cheap, they are not necessarily safe for someone who has just arrived and is carrying luggage so we recommend a metered taxi (obtainable at the bus and train station) which will cost around R35 and take around 5 minutes. A cheaper alternative is called a Rikki which is an open taxi and drops and collects others on the way and will cost around R15 per person. They now operate 7 days a week till late. Depending on how busy they are, they may take a long time to arrive. We suggest potential guests contact us for directions.

By car, coming in on the N1 and N2, past the harbour to the traffic lights (says right to the Waterfront). Don?t turn right but continue straight up Buitengracht Street through 6 sets of traffic lights after which the road dips to the left and becomes New Church Street. We are 50 metres along on the right, no. 82. Look for the zebra stripes on the wall and park next door.

Durban intl Airport - as you exit airport turn right at t-junct stay in left lane so you can get on the N3 towards PMB follow N3 for about 10km till you reach spagetti junction road will branch left for PMB and head straight towards durban or stanger take durban city road follow road till you see ridge road exit take exit go follow road over ridge road carry on down road till you reach essenwood road turn left at essenwood follow essenwood for 2km till you reach Springfield road turn right on Springfield head down road for about 50m corner house on right hand side 110 your at Surf n Dreams!

Durban Station - as you come the station Turn left on NMR avenue follow NMR till you see Argyle off ramp take Argyle off ramp turn left on argyle follow argyle for 2.5km till it turns into Springfield at Musgrave traffic lights carry on up Springfield 100m up the road on the right 110 Springfield your at Surf n Dreams!
