Each of the thirteen uniquely designed rooms is a playful experience that is miles away from your average hotel stay.
Poets, photographers, artists, musicians and designers interpret sterile hotel room décor with humor, imagination, energy and endless creativity.
The communal bar/lounge area is the perfect spot to meet fellow travelers and visiting locals. Relax, order a drink and sit on the balcony to take in the vibrant atmosphere of Long Street; Cape Town?s creative and eccentric heart.
And, at the end of the day, each Daddy Long Legs room offers good quality beds, cotton linen and a private shower and toilet. Boutique Backpacker prices, means you will return again and again.
Sweet dreams!!
It all started from humble beginnings, one simple idea. Offer travelers, spacious, creative, spotless and good value accommodation. Obtaining all these goals together isn?t easy nor is it the norm in the travel industry. Then again our guests aren?t one to follow the beaten path. They are independent, creative, forward thinking travelers. Who don?t want to stay in another regular hotel room in another regular city on another regular holiday.
Daddy Long Legs is not a backpackers. Neither is it a hotel, lodge, inn, motel, apartment block or trailer park.
Daddy Long Legs is something entirely different. Daddy Long Legs is an art exhibition that offers a place to sleep too. It?s a place where you can lay your hat and swing a cat. It?s a place where you can meet like minded explorers and new friends. It?s always en-suite and on a vibrant street. Its interactive good, clean fun with a shower and not a bath.
From the airport to Long Street is approximately 21km and takes approximately 20 minutes.
- Exit the Airport and continue for approx 3km; Merge onto the N2 HIGHWAY; Follow N2 STAD / CITY SIGN; After approx 18 km move into lane with M6 / SEA POINT / WATERFRONT SIGN; Proceed up Buitegracht Street for one kilometre and then turn left into Wale Street and right into Long Street.

Close to cafes, cinemas, supermarkets and museums. Centrally located just up from trendy Kloof Street, 5 minutes walk from vibrant Long Street, 5 minutes by taxi from the Waterfront and Table Mountain Cableway and within easy reach of Cape Towns famous beaches.
Family friendly, we are generally considered to be one of the quieter hostels in Cape Town. Facilities include leafy garden and courtyards with barbeque, fully equipped kitchen, cafe with internet access and the Blue Skies Travel Centre for all travel arrangements. Some of the rooms have good views of Table Mountain. We also provide comprehensive information; arrange airport shuttle, inexpensive car hire and tours.
We recycle garbage (with your help), use solar water heating (backed up electrically) and can arrange much needed tree planting in local townships should you wish to purchase carbon offsets.
Established in 1993 Zebra Crossing is featured in various travel guides including Rough Guide and South African Handbook. Footprints South Africa list us in their top ten and Lets Go Recommends.
Lonely Planet (2000 edition) say: "A good piano and a good atmosphere. Its one of our favorites".
Public transport is not very good in Cape Town. The best way from the airport is with a shuttle bus either booked on arrival at the airport or preferably booked in advance. The company we use is reliable and reasonable(R140 for one pax, R170 for 2 etc.) Zebra Crossing is approximately 20-30 minutes drive from the airport. A metered taxi from the airport costs around R200 as do most shuttles.
The train and bus station are situated adjacent one another in the city and again the only public transport is mini-bus taxis. Although they are cheap, they are not necessarily safe for someone who has just arrived and is carrying luggage so we recommend a metered taxi (obtainable at the bus and train station) which will cost around R35 and take around 5 minutes. A cheaper alternative is called a Rikki which is an open taxi and drops and collects others on the way and will cost around R15 per person. They now operate 7 days a week till late. Depending on how busy they are, they may take a long time to arrive. We suggest potential guests contact us for directions.
By car, coming in on the N1 and N2, past the harbour to the traffic lights (says right to the Waterfront). Don?t turn right but continue straight up Buitengracht Street through 6 sets of traffic lights after which the road dips to the left and becomes New Church Street. We are 50 metres along on the right, no. 82. Look for the zebra stripes on the wall and park next door.

33 South Boutique Backpackers was developed especially for those individuals who have a taste for a real adventure but are not willing to give up their piping hot showers and fresh percale linen.
Because Cape Town is such a great place, we decided to develop a Boutique Backpackers Lodge that is really special. Boutique? Boutique for us is everything stylish, unique and luxurious ? and all this you?ll find in the homely atmosphere at 33 South Boutique Backpackers.
Resting under Table Mountain?s watch, 33 South is nestled in the legendary OBZ, the funky and vibey neighbourhood with some of Cape Town?s most adored live band venues, comedy clubs, restaurants, pubs and bars. Since we dedicated our name (33 South) to the geographic location of Cape Town (33 South, 18 East), it?s fitting that each of our rooms is themed after a different culturally rich ?Capetonian? neighbourhood. So, you don?t have to travel far to experience the magic of our city!
Whether you choose to spend the night in an extra-sized bed in District 6, the colourful Bo-kaap, Khayalitsha Shack chic or the cool and breezy Kalk bay room (amongst others) Cindy, Kim and the rest of the friendly staff will make sure you feel at home in this spacious Victorian house.
At the reception you?ll not only find a selection of tours, activities and great music, but also insider-info on the best restaurants, surf spots, music festivals and loads of ?off-the-beaten-track? adventures.
Comfort, safety and security are top priority. To ensure this, each guest has their very own large locking cupboard with digital code safe, extra-sized bed with the softest fresh linen and the night-watchman Elvis will keep you safe and entertained.
From Cape Town International Airport: Take the N2 highway direction Cape Town city centre. Take the Liesbeck Parkway off-ramp, after approximately 9 km, turn right under the bridge at the traffic lights. At the following set of traffic lights, turn left into Station Rd, over the bridge.
