Argonaut Hostel is easy to find, located in Old Riga which is the most central location for Riga. 300 metres from the International Bus Station, 100 metres from the Bus Stop to the Airport and 400 metres from the Train Station. Argonaut is very close to Centrs Shopping Centre in Old Riga.

Argonaut's address is 50 Kaleju Street which is a medieval street with and cafes in the old town of Riga City.

From The Bus Station (Autoosta)

We are a short walk of 300 metres. You leave the Bus Station and turn left towards Old Riga by walking under the railway line as the railway is on a bridge above you. Then immediately walk down a few steps in to the underpass to get you to the other side of the road. Walk to the end of the underpass and take the left side steps back up. Once you emerge you should be facing a small park to the left and a cobbled road to the right. Walk across the park towards Monte Kristo Hotel and you will then come on to the Argonaut Backpackers Hostel street called Kaleju Iela. Then turn right and walk 50 metres to number 50 which is the Argonaut Backpackers Hostel building. The reception is on the floor above the ground floor.

From The Airport (Lidosta)

There is an airport bus that starts at 5:30am and finishes at 10:30pm . The bus stop to get on this bus 22 or 22A is located on the opposite side of the Airport carpark that you will see once you exit the airport. It departs around every 20 minutes and costs just 20 local cents (santimes). I recommend that you take a taxi as the red taxis at the airport have meters you can trust. The meter will start at 1.2 santimes with additional 40 santimes for each kilometre. So the total fair will be around 7 lats to get to Argonaut. Tell the driver you want to go to Old Riga and the Audeju Iela entrance to Old Riga. The journey takes about 15 or 20 minutes and is very direct using only about 4 roads. You will know you are at Audeju Iela when you see an electronics game arcade on the left and a Nord LB cash machine on the right and the boom gates in front of you. Get out of the taxi at those boom gates and walk directly straight ahead. The Argonaut Backpackers Hostel street is Kaleju Iela and the 3rd street on the left that is only about 50 metres from the boom gates. Once you turn left on to Kaleju Iela we are 20 metres on the left. The reception is on the floor above the ground floor.

From The Ferry Port (Pasazieru Osta)

The port is only about 4km from Old Riga. I recommend that you take a taxi and agree the price of 3 or 4 lats with the driver before you start as the Port taxis are not very ethical. Tell the driver you want to go to Old Riga and the Audeju Iela entrance to Old Riga. The journey takes about 5 or 10 minutes and is very direct using only about 3 roads. You will know you are at Audeju Iela when you see an electronics game arcade on the left and a Nord LB cash machine on the right and the boom gates in front of you. Get out of the taxi at those boom gates and walk directly straight ahead. The Argonaut Backpackers Hostel street is Kaleju Iela and the 3rd street on the left that is only about 50 metres from the boom gates. From The Train Station (Centrala Stacija)

The most difficult part with the train station is finding your way out to the correct exit. What will help you is first finding a pizza place called Pedro Pizza that is inside the train station. Then find the very tall Riga Clock that is outside from Pedro Pizza. From the Riga Clock you will have the station building to your back and you will be facing Janvara and Marijas street. Walk to Janvara street and a little to the left and you will find an underpass to get you to the other side of the road. Take the left stairs at the end of the underpass and then on this new side of the road walk along the footpath that takes you over some water. Keep walking along that path next to the road and after about 100 metres you will see the Metropole Hotel on the right. Cross the road separating you from the Metropole and walk to the left side of the Metropole past it. There you will see another underpass bringing people from the Bus Station and from the picture theatre , in front of you will be a small park. Walk across the park and towards Monte Kristo Hotel and you will then come on to the Argonaut Backpackers Hostel street called Kaleju Iela. Then turn right and walk 50 metres to number 50 which is the Argonaut Backpackers Hostel building. The reception is on the floor above the ground floor.

If You have a Bus or Car.

Park outside the Nacionala Opera that is next to Argonaut Backpackers and can be seen on the map next to the small water canal. Then walk 300 metres to Argonaut Backpackers Hostel as shown on the map and check in. When you check in tell the lady at reception that you have a car or bus and she will then introduce you to the Opera parking guy that will help you securely park your vehicle..

From the Airport:
Take the number 22 bus (0.40LVL). After crossing the river, get off the bus at the 11.Novembra krastmala stop. From the bus stop, cross the main street near the underpass and turn right. At this point, the main street and river will be on your right, while the Old Town buildings will be visible to the left of you. Continue walking until you see a small street called 'Peldu iela' to your left. Pass this street. The next street on your left will be 'Marstalu iela' - our street. As you continue on up the road, you should become aware of the Riga Hostel signpost after a moment or two......and voila! Welcome to Riga Hostel.

From the Train Station:
Once outside the main building, head towards the big clock and cross the main street by the underpass. When you find yourself outdoors once again, you will notice the Riga channel to your right. Cross the channel (as well as the tram-line behind it), continue on straight ahead until you cross the following street (this street will have tram-lines). At this point, continue walking straight. To your left, you should notice the main street, along with Stockmann shopping center. The buildings of old town Riga should be situated to your right. Keep walking straight ahead. Soon you should encounter Valnu Street (the 1st old town street to your right) and the underpass on your left. Continue walking straight until you come across a green (or white, if it's winter) square to your right. Cross the square, and turn right down the street behind the square. This is Alksnaju Street. Continue on until this street comes to an end and look to your left. Yes, you've guessed it .....Welcome to Riga Hostel!

From the Bus Station:
On leaving the bus station, start walking towards the river Daugava. When you reach the main street, take a right and continue under the railway bridge. Cross the big street to your right and continue walking until you reach 'Marstalu Iela. Now just turn right and walk for a moment or two until you come to number 12. The Riga Hostel sign should be in your vision and.......welcome home!

From the Bus Station:
Walk towards the Old City by going under the underpass walkway that takes you under the main road. When you emerge on the other side turn right. Walk across the road that has lots of tram tracks and to behind the building that is the Police Station. Behind the Police Station is a tram stop. Take any tram (3, 6, 11, 8) for just two stops. You will get off the tram at the Dzirnavu stop and walk across the road to number 25 that is another 30 meters in the direction the tram was traveling. Barons is on the top floor of number 25.

Bus: Autoosta (International central bus station) is next to Old Riga. The station is not modern and watch your wallet. Cash machines and tourist office are there. Its an easy 500 meter walk to the hostel. Ask directions to old town or look for the tallest church, Doma church, and walk that way. Dome hostel faces Dome square. Look for the Double Coffee sign. We are opposite that.

Railway: Centrala stacija (the central train station) has a modern shopping center and money machines and is next to old Riga. Cross the 6 lane main road called 13 janvara iela (13th January street) via city under walk tunnel systems. Hostel is about 500 meters and or 7 streets away. Ask for directions to Doma square or look for the tallest church, Doma church and walk that way. Dome hostel faces Doma square.

Airport: Riga international airport (RIX lidosta) is a modern small airport recently rebuilt. Cash machine and money exchange on arrival level. Distance to city - about 8 km. The bus stop is located on the other side of the airport car park. Follow the zebra crossing . Bus 22 and 22a runs about every 30 min and only costs a cheap 0.25 ls. To the city. Travel time about 25 min
Conductor on bus will give ticket & change. Get off at Stockman department store (5 level building). The hostel is about 400metres and six streets from here. Cross the 6 lane main road called Janvara iela 13 (13th January street). You can cross the road by using the city underpass tunnels. Ask directions to Doma square or just look for the tallest church, Doma baznica, which is on Doma square. The taxi rank is on departure level and the red taxi service Awaits. Taxi ride is about 15 min to city. Cost about 7 lats. Make sure the meter is on. The taxi can not enter Riga old town so get the driver to drop you off at the Latvian Occupation museum, walk up Kungu street to Doma church and look for the Double Coffee sign, we are opposite.

Hotel ?Sigulda? was built in the year 1889, when the Riga-Petersburg road was built. The building of the road encouraged more people to take holidays. The nobleman Nikolaj Kropotkins (1872-1939) was a man who encouraged tourism development in Sigulda.
