The history of the hotel goes back to XIX century. The building of the hotel "Metropolis" testifies about the glorious times. The building contained a hotel and a restaurant back in the year 1899. This building was designed by a great province engineer Nikolajus Andrejavas. There was a hotel with 27 rooms on the second floor. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs obtained the building in 1922 and turned it into stock company "Lietuvos viesbutis". A new three-storey building arose in S.Daukanto Street under the supervision of the company. The building was considered by favourite architect Vladimiras Dubeneckas. The architect transferred all the ideas and features of "Lithuanian neo baroque" style into the building.

Today the hotel "Metropolis" is opened for everyone: business travelers, students, tourists, city guests. The location of the hotel, which is in the very heart of the downtown, contributes to the hotel's popularity. The house was built in the 18th century and prior to the Second World War had been occupied by a variety of butchers, bakers, clockmakers, court clerks, surgeons, merchants and craftsmen. In about 1930 shops and artist-workshops were opened o­n the ground floor. Today some of the most well-known artists in Klaipeda (including painters, potters, amber craftsmen, and jewellers) have their workshops o­n the second floor and in buildings adjacent to the house.

The first floor of the house is newly renovated and has been converted into a cosy guest house with 10 double, 3 triple and 3 single rooms. The rooms are all spacious, carpeted and comfortably furnished. Some of the brick walls have been left unplastered in order to give an authentic reminder of the house's history. Most of the rooms have a private en-suite bathroom. Guests have their own keys and are free to come and go at any time. Rooms are non-smoking, and car parking is available.

The hotel is located upon the entrance to the city, by the freeway connecting Vilnius and Kaunas. Travel time to the city centre and Old Town is 15-20 minutes, with any other destination within Vilnius reachable in less than half an hour.You can rest and spend the night in cozy, comfortable rooms, each equipped with a television. There is a shower and bathroom in dual-occupancy rooms. Also at your service is a kitchenette where you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, warm up some food or store it in a refrigerator.

From the train station: go straight ahead to the junction with Cili Pica on the left corner.

From the bus station: turn left to the junction with Cili Pica on the corner.

Turn into Sodu Gatve. After 100 meters at the fork in the road take the left way (Geliu Gatve). Follow Geliu Gatve to the end and turn left onto Pylimo Gatve. After about 30 meters on Pylimo Gatve turn right into Rudninku Gatve. After about 40 meters you reach a small square. Cross the square to the opposite corner where you'll enter Mesinu gatve. Go Mesinu Gatve to the end and turn left into Vokieciu Gatve. After 100 meters turn left in Sv. Mikalojaus gatve. Now you are almost there. You'll find the gate of our hostel after 30 meters on the right at Mikalojaus 3. Just ring the doorbell.

From the airport (6km)
Take bus number 1 from outside the airport to the end of the line (Stoties). This is where the bus and train stations are. Then follow the directions above to find us.
You can also take a taxi. We recommend you call

Both companies have operators and drivers who speak English and the price should be about 30 Litas (10 EURO). If you take a taxi that's waiting outside the airport, you will pay 50-60 Litas (15-20 EURO).
