?Casa Azul? was two traditional village houses in the pretty working village of Albunuelas at the head of the Lecrin Valley that we purchased in 2002 to enable us to retire from a hectic self employed working life. We converted them into a small B&B so that we still had a reason for getting up in the morning and to continue meeting interesting people without the daily 10 hour grind of our past life, rush hour on the M1 and cold wet winters in England.
To ensure that we keep in touch with home we installed a TV in the lounge which receives all English free to air programs such as BBC and ITV and all our favorite radio stations. BBC1, 2, 3, 4, Five live and Mary Ann?s favorite Classic FM.
To look after all creature comforts we have had the 2 houses professionally converted into 1 without loosing any of the original character. There are now 2 en-suite twin bedded rooms that are reserved for our B&B guests which both have showers, radiators, fans and tea and coffee making facilities.

On the second floor we have a self contained twin bedded apartment for 2 people. This consists of 3 rooms, the bedroom with views over the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the kitchen/living room with sink, cooker, microwave, fridge and comfy seating and a shower room with WC.

This apartment has direct access to the roof terrace which is shared with your resident hosts Mary Ann and Ken Silverlock and any other guests. On the roof terrace there are plenty of chairs, a table, sun umbrella, a splash pool, BBQ and many flowering plants. This is a wonderful place to breakfast under a cloudless sky with birds every where including eagles soaring overhead on many days throughout the year.

On the ground floor we have the guests lounge with T/V and music centre, plus a selection of books and board games. Off the lounge there is a shady, enclosed courtyard with many plants and seating which is the perfect place to relax in the heat of the afternoon. Mary Ann is happy to serve dinner for any guests that require it either in the dining room or on the courtyard and more than happy to baby sit when required.

The Valley de Lecrin (Arabic translation ?The valley of happiness?) is at the heart of your holiday home. The village of Albunuelas is just a short drive to the picturesque banks of Lake Beznar and its unbelievable head of wild carp. The area is surrounded by orange and lemon groves, vineyards and almond orchards. The magnificent views are framed by the imposing Sierra Nevada Mountains which give the area its wonderful climate by sheltering it from the cold northern European winds.

Activities in the valley include angling (we have all the tackle that you require) mountain biking, painting, walking, bird watching and horse riding or just chilling out watching the wonderful flora and fauna. Close by are some challenging golf courses, the beaches of The Costa Tropical, the mountains of the Sierra Nevada and the marvelous city of Granada. The Alpujarras are only a 30 minute drive with their natural spring baths that offer therapeutic treatment for muscular pain, allergies, stress and lethargy. Alternatively just relax in the wonderful waters and let time pass away.

From Granada airport take the A92 to Granada. Keep to the inside lane at all times.
Leave the A92 at the Santa Fe exit and join the A329 to Granada. At the 1st major junction take the E902 motorway to Motril.
At junction 153 leave the motorway and follow the signs to Albunuelas.
When you enter the village, stay on the main image road!!! And follow it into the centre of the village, past the Funeria and into a small square with Tres Lindes restaurant on the right.
Go straight across the square and up the narrow street and into the Town Hall square. There is a Fountain on your left and the bank in front of you, just past the bank turn left and at the T junction find a parking place.
After parking walk away from the back of the square and keep left down the slope past the leaning back house and into Calle Horno.
Our house, CASA AZUL, is 50 meters down on the right.
Any problems then give us a ring, and we will come and meet you.

From the car hire centre at Malaga airport keep to the right on the service road and take the N340 to Malaga.
After about 2K take the E15 to Motril
This is the Mediterranean Motorway N340/E15 and will take you all along the coast to Motril.
Just after leaving Salobrena watch for the slip road to Granada. It comes on you very quickly.
Follow the N323/E902 towards Granada.
At junction number 153 leave the motorway and follow the signs to Albunuelas
Follow the road into the centre of the village, past the Funeria and into a small square with Tres Lindes resteraunt.
Go straight across the square and up the narrow street and into the Town Hall square. There is a Fountain on your left and the bank in front of you.
Just past the bank turn left, and at the T junction find a parking place.
After parking walk away from the back of the square and keep left down the slope past the leaning back house and into Calle Horno.
Our house, Casa Azul is 50 meters down on the right with the pretty flower pots on the wall.
Any problems then give us a ring and we will come and meet you.
The journey time is approximately 2 hours without rushing.

Enjoy a stroll in the village discovering its Thermal Spring and the Gorge. Visit the nearby villages of Axarquia or get astonished by the Sierra Nevada or Granada with the Alhambra but always come back to Seguiriya town and enjoy its famous cuisine.

Whereas you enjoy the view onto the snowed mountains of Malaga in the winter, you will get enchanted by the almond blossoms in spring. Autumn shows off with red and yellow leaves of the trees in the gorge and every summer dawn makes you dream away...

From Granada Airport:

Take a bus to go to Granada city which costs three euros. From there, you can take a bus to Alhama de Granada which will cost about eight euros. The times are 12.00am (from Monday to Friday), 15.30 (Monday to Sunday) and another one at 18.30(Monday to Saturday). For the way back, there are buses at 7.30 and 10.00 (Monday to Saturday) and only one at 15.00 on Sundays. If you are traveling on bank holiday please, refer to the timetable as it varies from time to time. Our Hotel is located in the historical centre, right after the town hall. Also, if you go to Municipal Information office the will give you a map of the town and even more exact information about how to get here.

- From the highways (A7 or N340), you must follow the sign toward Alicante Puerto / Centro. If you are coming by car, when you arrive to the plaza look for the loading zone for hotel guests. It is reserved exclusively for guests to load and unload their luggage. - From the airport you can take the C-6 bus, which will leave you in the Plaza del Mar, just 2 minutes' walking distance from the hotel. You can also take a taxi from the airport.

Confrides Castle Walk - 4km

-A short but exciting walk that visits the spectacular ruins of Confrides Castle. A great time to do this walk is just before sunset when the sunlight picks out the pinnacles of the Serrella ridge above Abdet and lights up the castle whilst the valley below falls into shade. The last section to the castle involves some rocky steps, and there is steep drops form the castle ruins. We reckon you take your binoculars with you. The panoramic views are worth the effort.

-Not far from here, in the town of Callosa d'EN Sarrià you can enjoy a river with waterfalls and have a swim as well.

-You can go to the cost at Benidorm.

-You can visit Castell de Guadalest, it is a historical village with several museums, restaurants and shops worth visiting. There are more places to visit, we will tell you about it! We can not wait to welcome you!

The airport is about 12 km in the south of Alicante, close to Santa Pola. You can take the bus, taxi or hire a car. No train connection at the airport available.

Alicante Airport has a ?Airport - to - Alicante City? bus. This bus marked C-6 stops at bus stop No.30 (it will be out of the arrival building, cross the first street and left-hand-up). It costs about 0.90 E and takes about 45 minutes.
