The city wall protected on this spot one of the most important gates into town ? the Prague gate what was pulled down in 19th century and what stood next to our hotel.

In the renaissance era the houses changed frequently their owners who did some minor changes at the front elevations what were given the shapes of a renaissance building, so rare in town. The great fire of ?eské Bud?jovice in 1641 left the buildings almost by miracle untouched while most of the town was left in ruins.

During the reconstruction we found a late gothic fresco hidden underneath shifts of plaster. To our astonishment we realized that it presents The Babtism of our Lord in a form of one of the best preserved frescos in town of that time.

Way from Vienna: from airport use highway A4, then go to highway A1 direction Linz. In Linz use way B126 direction Bad Leonfelden and cross the border to Czech republic in Studanky. In Vyssi Brod turn to way 160 direction Rozmberk and Cesky Krumlov. From Vyssi Brod is just only 28 km to Cesky Krumlov. And if you cross first bridge in Cesky Krumlov and second street turn right and go up. Then continue 200 m and go left and after another 10 m you're in the front of our Penzion.

If coming into Cesky Krumlov by direct bus from Prague you'll stop at the main bus station. From there follow the main road down the hill. When you get to the traffic light turn left after the bridge, walk up the stairs and you will see us right next to the entrance gate to the old town!

If you take a bus that stops in Ceske Budejovice and from there you get a connection bus to Krumlov get off at Spicak bus station, the second last stop (ask the bus driver!). Then walk up to the bridge, make a right and walk through the gate. You'll see us!

If you are getting in by train, get off at the Cesky Krumlov station, follow directions for the center, and walk down the hill and across the bridge leading toward the entrance gate to the old town and turn left right after the gate.

?ernice History

The very first historically mentioned building in the Cernice area was an old guard castle, whose troops patrolled the narrow border of the land of one of the Slavonic tribes , the Dudlebs. In the course of time, more and more wooden houses had been built and the village was growing continuously. Around the village church, which was founded in the second half of the 10th century by father of the second bishop of Prague, a farmstead appeared and in the beginning of the 14th century Cernice came under the custody of the monastery in Zlata Koruna (Golden Crown) . Side by side with this Cistercian monastery Cernice went through the days of its fascinating fame, power and glory as well as the days of savage and violent attacks of both local and foreign enemies. Immediately after his coronation, the emperor Joseph II. proclaimed the Cistercian order to be "extremely unuseful and unprosperous" a started to fight unforgiving for its dissolution. Although the last abbot tried hard to convince the emperor of the importance and working ability of his monks, he did not succeeded. It was by no means important that he founded cloister schools and taught his students in a modern and progressive way that J.A.Komensky had recommended and even tried to manufacture useful goods within the cloister grounds. In the year 1785 the entire cloister property, incl. the Cernice village, had been auctioned for 213 000 golden coins. Thanks to the new owner, prince Johann von Schwarzenberg, the former cloister farmstead did not disappeared but had been changed into a county farmhouse.

Hotel Restaurant Cernice was opened right in one of the buildings of the former Schwarzenberg estate. In the 19th century a village school was established in one of its parts. Local chronicles mention another important dweller of the house No.3, Mr. Karel Hrdina, the first translator of the ancient and throughout famous Kosmas chronicle.

b) If you come to the final bus stop "Dolní nádra?í" or "Terminál" you can walk to the bus station "Tr?nice" (Use the subway located under the traffic lights - about 100 meters from your final bus stop) and go straight. After a four-minute walk you will reach the central bus station, "TR?NICE". Afterwards, continue as mentioned above in Point 2a.

2) Traveling by train:
a) If you arrive at the train station "Karlovy Vary - Horní nádra?í" we recommend that you take a taxi. However, if you prefer to take a bus, go downstairs (staircase leading from the train station) and cross the road to reach the bus stop. Each bus can take you to the central bus station "TR?NICE". Continue as mentioned above in Point 2a.
b) If you come to the train station "Karlovy Vary - Terminál" or "Karlovy Vary - Dolní nádra?í" see Point 2b.

Get off at Delnicka tram stop (second stop). Continue in the direction of the tram to the traffic lights. Turn right at the corner. The hostel will be about 100m down the street on the left hand side.

From The Airport:
Personal airport pickup is available on request. You must email us to request this service. The rate is 500CZK for 1-4 persons; 900CZK for 5-8 persons.
Take the 'AE' airport express bus to Nadrazi Holesovice (last stop). Then follow the description above. (45CZK to driver, then 18CZK ticket)

If the "AE" is not running, take bus #119 to the last stop which is called DEJVICKA. Enter the Metro at the bus drop off. Take the Metro in the direction SKALKA. Get off at HRADCANSKA (1st stop). When you exit the Metro you will still be underground. Take street exit listed as "Holesovice". You can take tram 1 or 25. Exit at tram stop DELNICKA (7th stop). BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT

1) From the AIRPORT take a bus nr 119 and go to DEJVICKA STATION. There change for tram no 26 and go apx 20 minutes to the stop HUSINECKA. As you get off the tram, walk up the street and turn the first street to the right. On the left side you will already see our Astra Accommodation sign.

from motorway D 1 - follow the city centrum, after the Muzeum on your left follow the sign ZIZKOV - from the Wilsonova street turn right to Seifertova street. Step 1: Get to Holesovice metro station
From Hlavní Nádra?í (central railway station) or Florenc bus station. Buy a 20czk travel ticket (this will be good for both the metro and tram journey). Validate your ticket in the yellow boxes before going down to the metro platform. Take Metro line C (red line) direction Ládví, and get off at Nádra?í Hole?ovice. Turn left when you step off the train carriage and go up the escalator. Go to step 2.

From Holesovice rail station (Nádra?í Holesovice). Buy a 14czk travel ticket, walk through the pedestrian tunnel (follow the Mc Donald?s sign) to the other side of the metro station. Go to step 2.

From the Airport take the Airport Express bus (45czk runs every 30 minutes) to Holesovice rail station. Walk into the station concourse. Buy a 14czk travel ticket; walk through the pedestrian tunnel (follow the Mc Donald?s sign) to the metro station.

Step 2: Get to the hostel
From Holesovice metro station exit to the left, cross the tram rails to the other side of the road and from there take any tram. Validate your tram ticket in the yellow box on the tram (if you have just come off the metro, you don?t need to validate it again) and go one stop to Ortenovo Námestí. There is also shuttle service company - CEDAZ - you can go with them, they have little bit lower prices then taxi because you share a minibus with other people.

Or if you take a cab in front of arrival hall on the street, before you get in the car ask for the price, because some companies or independent taxis are very expensive.

From the international airport "Ruzyne" take a bus no.100 to the final stop "Zlicin", then take underground (line B) and go to the stop "Smichovske nadrazi." Get out of the subway through the middle stairwell and then go through the gate for the disabled.
Go left along the bus area and after circa 50 meters there will be a bridge for pedestrians on the left, leading across the railway. Cross the bridge and at the corner on the right of the Radlická Street there is our hotel. (200 meters on foot in total.)

From the main railway station (hl.n.) or Holesovice railway station take underground line C, change to line B at "Florenc" and go about 8 minutes to "Smichovske nadrazi". Then walk the same way as above (from the airport).

From the Old Town you can use metro line B (5 minutes) or catch the tram No.6 and go to the stop "Krizova". This tram stop is right in front of the hostel.

Even though we are in the heart of town our street is calm, but as soon as you start walking towards Wenceslas square the rush slowly starts to hit you. Everything you want to visit in Prague like St. Wenceslas square, the National Museum (2min), Old Town Square (6min), Charles Bridge (10min), Prague castle (20min), all the pubs, clubs and restaurants, even the red light district are all within walking distance of our hostel and apartments. Metro MUZEUM and all the trams pass by so you can jump in and travel to any place outside the centre easily.

Our accommodation facility is basically made of private en-suite apartments, we do not have dorms so when you reserve an apartment its only you staying in it.

Yes!!! Full apartments not just rooms, spacious apartments with your own bathroom (some have bath tubs and others shower corners) with hot water, equipped kitchen + fridge, TV, satellite, some have washing machines (coming soon to all apartments) and microwaves (check facilities section for full details of what you could have in our (YOUR) place.

All our apartments are large so do not worry about being tight or uncomfortable if you are a big group. There is a famous restaurant (U Majora Zemana) in our building where you can enjoy cheap meals and beers!

All groups are welcome! You will feel like you own the building when you are in a group because each of you will have you?re own apartment very close to each other, just like neighbors in the same building.

From Main train Station Hlavni Nadrazi:

From the airport:
The best way is to take a shuttle bus from the airport; it is right outside the exit from the airport. It is a white van, company name Cedaz, AIRPORT-CENTRUM on the side of the van. It costs 90 CZK (3 ?) to get to Namesti Republiky, then you get off, go Revolucni street towards the river and after few hundreds of meters turn to the left to Dlouha street, walk another 150m and it will be on the right side of the street, next to the famous club Roxy. If you get lost, ask for Roxy, everybody knows where it is.
The shuttle could drop you off by our door, but it would be 360 CZK (12 ?) instead of 90 CZK (3 ?).
If you want to take a taxi, the price shouldn't be more then 500-600 CZK (15-18 ?).
Or by public transportation:
Take a bus #119 from the airport to the last stop DEJVICKÁ, it will drop you off right by metro, take a metro Line A for 3 stops, get off at STAROMESTSKA and walk KAPROVA, through the OLD TOWN SQUARE, continue to DLOUHA street and hostel is after 300m on the left hand side. Just buy a 20 CZK ticket; it is good for any public transportation for 75 minutes.

After you get off the main escalator take the exit on left - walk a few metres to traffic lights on Sokolska Street - cross the road and turn left. Then take the first turning right onto Nabojlsti Street and at the streets end turn left onto Ke Karlovu and walk straight on. The hostel is no.7 on the right. You will always be made welcome at Hostel U Melounu.

From the Airport (Letiste Praha-Ruzyne)
We recommend this company AAA taxi - from Prague just dial 222 333 222 they speak English, you can order taxi by phone. They normally arrive within10-15 minutes to pick you up. Price with this company is about 600, - czk.

There is also shuttle service company -Codas, you can go with them, and they have a little bit lower prices then taxis because you share a minibus with other people.

Or if you take a cab in front of arrival hall on the street, before you get in the car ask for the price, because some companies or independent taxis are very expensive.

About your return way to the airport ask at the reception desk. We can order a taxi cab for you by phone. They usually come in 10 - 15 minutes.

Cross-country skiers are recommended to use the cross-country tracks in U Kapli?ky and Pod Dvora?kami area. These are quality white-snow tracks. A marvellous track can be also found in Krkono?ská Magistrála which is located along the tops of our highest mountain range.

The non-skiing visitors may try Snowtubing ? a very entertaining tubing on inflated boats in an artificially-built snow corridor.

In the other months, Rokytnice nad Jizerou offers quality touristic sights. There is a new facility from 1st June 2007 ? the summer operation of the rope railway in Horní Domky which may transport tourists and the cycle tourists (transporatation of bikes is free of charge). A network of snow-covered tourist routes for hiking and cycle tourism is also available. Rokytnice nad Jizerou offers easy and short walks or demanding mountain hiking tours as well ? Hu?ský waterfalls, Studenov, Rezek, Dvo?a?ky, the Labe spring and the magic panorama of Krkono?e edges. Rich experiences can be experience with horse riding, ninepins and bowling play, bogsleding, go-cart-racing, on tennis courts, with paraglading or rockclimbing. A fully-equipped sports hall is also available.

Krkono?e tourist routes enable organizing trips to Harrachov, ?pindler?v Mlán, Pec pod Sn??kou, trips to Sn??ka and to other tourist sights during the entire summer. To enjoy a nice travel experinece we recommend the use of our local specialty called the ?toothed route? (the so-called Zuba?ka) from Ko?enov to Harrachov.

Our hotel is situated in the area of The Premonstratensians' monastery in Tepla, which was founded in 1193
We offer 130 beds in 10/sgl, 48 dbl-3 of them with a wheelchair access, 4 business rooms and 3 suites. All rooms with TV/SAT, radio, phone, internet(ADSL, WiFi^?), WC and shower bath.


In Hotel restaurant we serves continental and English breakfasts, lunches and dinners by menu card - cold and warm starters, fish, poultry, venison, pork, beef, dishes per older - old Czech and monastery cuisine, vegetarian meals, salads and desserts.

The tableland around Tepla (about 700 m above sea level) is a perfect area for walking-tours, cycling, cross-country skiing etc. Fishing, bike renting for hotel guests, cycling routes, golf lessons - Golf Club Klaster Tepla: a nine-holed course 300 m from hotel, riding lessons, rides by a peasant barouche in the surroundings, riding horses on nearby farms, snowshoes for rent. The Abbey library, comprising over 100.000 volumes is the second largest one of its kind in the Czech Republic.
