What to see in Beijing and How to get there from Sleepy Inn?

There are totally six attractions in Beijing you must see:

1)Tian An Men Square and Forbidden City

Take the subway, and get off at Qian Men. Out of Exit A is Tian An Men Square and Forbidden City. It takes you about 25 minutes to get there, and it costs about RMB15 to go to Tian An Men Square by taxi.

(2)Summer Palace

Walk ten minutes around the lake, take bus No826, and the terminal is Summer Palace. It takes you about 30 minute to get there, and it costs you about RMB30 to go there by taxi.

(3)Temple of Heaven

Take subway and get off at Chong Wen Men, then walk about 15 minutes. You can also take the same bus No826, and then get off at Hong Qiao. It takes you about 40 minutes to get there, and it costs you about 35 by taxi.

(4)Great Wall and Ming Tombs

Walk about eight minutes, and take bus No 919. The buses go to the Badaling Great Wall every 15 minutes and it takes you only 50 minutes to get there. There is no stop on the way.
Take the same bus No 919, get off and Shuitun and then go to the Ming Tombs by minibus. It is just on the way to the Great Wall.

We have a prized location inside the famous Da Zha Lan hutong market streets, with over 600 years of history. The Da Zha Lan hutong markets are filled with bustling character, with interesting shops, restaurants and stalls, leading right up to Tiananmen Square itself.

The Leo Hostel is a traditional Chinese hutong hostel, beautifully decorated with traditional furniture and fittings. As an escape from the busy market streets outside, inside the hostel are several peaceful, green seating areas, where you can relax with a good book or quietly socialize with friends. Art and calligraphy exhibitions are placed throughout the hostel, and you can watch our in-house artist paint new works every day, or even take one of his kung fu / tai qi classes!

We are the most convenient hostel for transportation links. As we are so close to Tiananmen Square and the Qianmen subway & bus center, there is no problem taking transportation to anywhere you want to go, including the train station and airport shuttle bus terminals. Directions from the airport:

1) Book a taxi pick up from us. We can pick you up at the airport for 200rmb per car (fits up to 3 passengers)(from 11pm to 7am, we must charge an extra 50rmb). If you are interested, please provide ALL of the following details: arrival date, arrival time, flight number, airline, departure city.

2) Take the shuttle bus to the Beijing city center (the journey takes over 1 hour). When you arrive at the airport, leave by exit 11 if it is an international flight arrival, or exit 7 if it is a domestic flight arrival. Then buy a ticket from near the bus stops. There are different shuttle buses but it is best to take the bus to the main Beijing train station (16rmb). The bus stops about 100 meters west of the Beijing station. When you get off the bus. continue walking straight (in the direction of the bus) to arrive at Beijing station. For directions from the station, please read below.

Directions from the Main Beijing Station:

1) Take the bus. Leave the station by the north exit, walk right (east) to the bus park and take bus 20 to Qianmen - 1rmb. Then follow the map to the hostel.

2) Take the subway. The subway is outside of the train station, near the main road - look for the stairs leading down. Take the subway to the Qianmen subway station - 3rmb. Then follow the map to the hostel.

or

3) Take a taxi to the hostel - 25rmb. (ask the driver to phone us for directions)

Directions from the Beijing We st Station:

1) Leave by the North exit & take bus 9 or 821 from in front of the station to Qianmen (1rmb or more). You can get off just before Tiananmen Square, or just after you pass it. Then follow the map to the hostel.

2) Leave by the North exit, walk 10 minutes North to the Military Museum (Junshi bowuguan) subway station. Take the subway to the Fuxingmen station and then change to the circle line and take the subway to the Qianmen station - 3rmb. Then follow the map to the hostel.

3) Take a taxi to the hostel - 25rmb (ask the driver to phone us for directions)

Please note: If you have any problems or get lost, please phone us - most small newspaper shops have a phone you can use. Taxi drivers do not always know the best way to reach the hostel, so it is best to ask them to phone us, or you can get out at Tiananmen Square and follow the map yourself.

Our hostel is located in one of Peking?s exquisite traditional neighborhoods known as hutongs. As Beijing grows and modernizes many hutongs are being destroyed. However, recently the government has designated certain hutongs to be protected and preserved as historical and cultural spaces. Our hostel is situated within one of these protected areas. Our particular neighborhood was formed in the Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368) and has retained its original scale and structure through the Ming and Qing dynasties and up to the present.

Established on the foundations of the original siheyuan (four-in-one courtyard houses), our hostel exemplifies authentic Beijing architecture. Beijing siheyuans embody the traditional Chinese concept of living. If you want to authentically experience the Chinese peoples? life style then staying at our hostel is your best bet. From the airport, take shuttle bus Line 2 to the last stop-Xidan Aviation Building ( shuttle bus terminal.) Get bus No 22 just in front of the Aviation Building beside the main street and get off at Ping'anlilukounan stop (should be the 4th Stop), our hostel is in the opposite Hutong.

From Beijing Railway Station (Beijing Zhan), take bus No 52 and get off at (Xi dan lu kou Dong), then change the bus No.22, get off at (Ping'an LI lu kou nan) our hostel is at the opposite road.enter the Hu tong(Name:Xi si bei qi tiao) for 100 meters walking there will be our hostel:)
From Beijing West Railway Station, take bus No 47 and get off at Pinganlilukounan. our hostel is in the opposite Hutong(Xisi Bei7tiao.)

If you take a taxi from Xidan Aviation building to my hostel, the cost will be around 10 yuan. From airport, by taxi about 120yuan.

If you wish to take taxi to our hostel, don?t use the service desks in the lobby of the airport or those offer you a ride to the city centre because most they are always ready to rip you off at more than 300 RMB by putting you onto their private car without a taxi licence.

From the airport to the hostel it never costs more than 140 RMB. You can just get one from in front of the building of the airport lobby. Please use licensed taxis for more reliable services. If you are overcharged, don?t hesitate to contact my hostel!

If you are arriving at the main Beijing train station, you can take either public bus or subway to 9 Dragons House. By subway, you go get on at the train station and go one stop to Chongwenmen and then change to line 5. Go north four stops and get off at the Zhangzizhonglu stop.

Go out exit C and go left. At the first intersection (about 20 feet or so) go left again. At the first road (pretty much behind the subway station and an enclosed construction site) go left again. That road is Dongsi Jiutiao. Walk for about 5 minutes and you will see a three story building on the right hand side.

By public bus, you can take bus 24 and get off at the Dongsi Jiutiao stop. Once you get off the bus, cross the street, go right a short distance and then go left down Dongsi Jiutiao. We are on the left-hand side about five minutes in.If taking a taxi, it should cost between 10 and 15 RMB.

From Beijing West Train Station, take bus 823. Get off at Zhangzizhong Street. It should take between 50 and 60 minutes and costs 1 RMB. If coming by taxi, it should cost between 30 and 40 RMB.

If arriving at the Beijing airport, you can take the airport express bus and get off at Dongzhimen. Once you get off, you can take a taxi to our hostel. A taxi should cost between 10 and 15 RMB. From Dongzhimen you can also take bus no. 106 to the Weijia Hutong stop. Once you get off the bus, cross the street, go left a short distance and then go right down Dongsi Jiutiao. We are on the right-hand side about five minutes in.

If you take a taxi from the airport, it should cost no more than 100 RMB, including the 10 RMB airport road toll fee.

NB: This hostel requires a minimum stay of 7 nights at the time of year you have chosen. Should you have any problem in doing so, please contact us immediately for help.
For any reservation of accommodation and transportation during the period of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games to be effective the following prepayments must take place: 50% of the total cost of booking including the deposit taken by the website company must be paid upon confirmation of booking. The remaining amount (50% of the total cost of your reservation) must be paid by 1st June 2008 at the latest. Cancellation policy: 50% of the total value of the reservation will be charged if the cancellation takes place before 1st.Jan.2008. From the 2nd June 2008 and onwards the full amount of reservation value will be charged.

? From the airport, take shuttle bus Line 2 to the last stop- Xidan Aviation Building ( shuttle bus terminal ). Get bus No 22 just in front of the Aviation Building beside the main street and get off at XinJieKou^? stop (should be the 8th Stop), walk back about 100 meters along the street, find the "Dairy Queen" sign and turn into the small alleyway beside the DQ about 100 meters eastward, you will see" Red Lantern House"on your left hand , two big Chinese traditional wooden doors with two bunch l red lanterns on it.
? From Beijing Central Railway Station, take Subway (Beijing Zhan) and then get off at Jishuitan Station, take exit C than turn left walk to the south about 15 minutes,
? after you see McDonald^?'s on your right hand, keep going adhead about 50 meters, you can see "Dairy Queen"on the left hand of the street then turn into the alleyway beside the"DQ"shop.
? Or you can take bust No 808 from Beijing Central Railway Station and get off at XinJieKou^? stop walk adhead about 50 meters, you will see " Dairy Queen", then follow the direction above.
? From Beijing West Railway Station, take bus No 47 and get off at XinJieKou^?, walk back about 150 meters, find "Dairy Queen "Shop on you left hand and turn into the alleyway beside the shop, about 100 meters away, you will find "Red Lantern House"on your left hand.
? If you take a taxi from Xidan Aviation Building to our hostel, the cost will be around 15-20yuan. From airport, by taxi about 120yuan..

Welcome to Beijing Far East International Youth Hostel!

Beijing Far East International Youth Hostel, accepted as one of the best hostels in Beijing, is situated in a preserved and protected Hutong area, typical local residency neighborhood, 10 minutes' walk away from the alleyways to Tian'anmen Square, Qianmen Business Centre and Forbidden City. The well- known Liu Li Chang Cultural Street is only 5 minutes walk. The hostel was the former residence of a warlord in the beginning of the last century.

We are in a traditional Chinese courtyard attached to the main building as a comfortable hotel and the courtyard are built in the style of Qing Dynasty, quiet and comfortable. You can take a traditional rickshaw or a self-guided map tour to explore the area. Many of the historical attractions including Tian'anmen Square, Forbidden City, Liulichang (Antique Market) and Former embassy area...

Our hotel will have a promotion week from 23rd to 29th May. During this activity we will offer free mineral water for each guest. Also you can get 20% discount if you have meals at our restaurant (taste of home restaurant) and the breakfast is excluded.

You can book both domestic and international plane and train tickets here on arrival. The tours to the Great Wall are covered in different sections including The Great wall at Badaling, Mutianyu, Simatai and hiking on the wall From Jinshanling to Simatai.

If you feel you are getting tired and need a massage afterwards, the masseuse in the beauty salon on the first floor will make you quickly recover and leave you feeling refreshed. You can see shows of Beijing Opera, Chinese Acrobatics and Chinese Martial Arts (Kungfu.) There are two restaurants in the hotel serving both Chinese and Western style meals. 10 --15 Yuan per person breakfast (US, UK, Switzerland, Continental style) are well arranged in the courtyard restaurant.

The buffet breakfast is served on the 1st floor in the main building and is very popular. There is also a coffee bar on floor B where you can log on to the internet, listen to music and watch videos and TV programs while enjoying your coffee.

In order to make your travel from the airport hassle free, we have now set up a very reliable airport pick-up service taking you all the way to the hostel without any problem. It costs 150RMB per car with max.3 people with luggage from 8:00am to 11:00pm. For other times it costs 180RMB MAX.3 people. The above rate includes high way toll and parking fee. For the service, please contact us in advance (at least 2 days) with information of your departure city, arrival time, flight number and your names.

You can also take the shuttle bus from the airport to XI DAN (the building of Civil Aviation Administration of China), it costs 16 Yuan. Then take a taxi to our hotel (the taxi fee is around 15 Yuan). if you have any problems when you arrive at the airport or XI DAN, please make a phone call to Sally & Jason.

The 29th Olympic games will be held in Beijing in 2008. We have already started to offer plenty of information relating hotel reservations, rate, travel and game before and during the Olympic games. *** This is a great 'hostel', more of a hotel really. Rooms are cleaned every day and it has every service you could need - internet, laundry and a tour office which can organize your trips to the Great Wall etc. The location is perfect - in the middle of the old part of Beijing. We spent the first few nights here in another part of town and this area is much safer and more fun, I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Beijing for the first time.

***The entire staff at Far East is so incredibly helpful! Having a tourist office inside the hostel was definitely useful, and they're really good at explaining how to get around the city. It's within walking distance to both Tianamen Sq. and the Forbidden City, and the shops along the alleyways are so much cheaper than the silk market! We found that out a little too late. The restaurant on the first floor is really good, and the cafe at the bottom floor is also really convenient. Make sure you stay in the main hostel, not in the court yard!

*** Fantastic travel desk and massage facilities - staff very friendly. Great free internet service and good breakfast buffet - constantly restocked. Great!

***The great food and excellent internet facilities provided by the hotel make life very comfortable and with only a 10 minute walk to the nearest underground station, or a 20 min walk through some very interesting streets leading to Tiananmen Square, the location is quite central. I've stayed in this Hotel 3 times now and will definitely stay there again.

***Absolutely fantastic! Extremely nice people, very helpful, good tours and EXCELLENT massages! Loved it and would definitely stay there again. Just one thing: it would be nice with a few strictly female/male rooms. But apart from that it was all more than good!

*** Better location - it's impossible! Nothing better than being in this fantastic Hutong. In front of the hostel, there's a fantastic bar-cafe, where you can eat for a reasonable price. I would return!

*** It's very clean (we had an en-suite) and the food offered at both the restaurant and cafe were excellent in taste and value for money. Free internet was great. Within walking distance to Forbidden City.

Arrival from Beijing International Airport,
you can take the shuttle bus to the final stop which is Xidan Aviation Building( Xidanminhang) when you get off the bus, you can just get a taxi( about10RMB) to FarEast^? Hotel( Yuandong Fandian) or Just go cross the Chan'an Avenue to Liubukou, where you can see some camera shops on the roadsides, go further looking for Bus number 14 , one stop, to Liulichang. If you wish to take taxi to the hostel, don't use the service desks in the lobby of the airport or those offer you a ride to the city center because most they are always ready to rip you off at more than 300 RMB by putting you onto their private car without taxi licence.From the airport to the hostel it never costs more than 150 RMB.You can just get one from in front of the building of the airport lobby.Please use licenced taxi for more reliable service.If you are overcharged, don't hesitate to contact Sally and Jason.

Beijing City Central Hostel is located at the corner of Beijingzhanjie and Beijingzhan Xijie, right across from the Central Railway Station. Bus terminal, airport shuttle bus stop and taxi stands are next to the railway station, and Beijingzhan subway station is just outside the door.
