How to get there

By car
Pass through Burgas, following the signs to Sozopol. After you are out of the town, drive to the direction of Sozopol, and after less than ten kilometers you shall see the sign of Kraymorie. The turn-off is to the right, then get on the overbridge for passing over the highway, and you are the Quarter of Kraymorie.


By train
After you get out of the central entrance of the Railway Station in Burgas, the bus stop of Bus No. 17 is at about some hundred metres, right next to the Central Post Office. This bus shall take you to the Quarter of Kraymorie.

By airplane
Take public Bus No. 15 from the Airport of Burgas, and get off at the final bus stop of the Yug/South Bus Station., which is immediately next to the Railway Station of Burgas. The bus stop of Bus No. 17 is opposite the Railway Station Central Entrance at about some hundred metres, right next to the Post Office building.

By bus
If you arrive to Burgas by a long distance bus from Sofia or another town in the country, get off at the last bus stop. Most of those busses stop next to the Railway Station of Burgas (for security?s sake, take the information from the driver). The bus stop of Bus No. 17 is opposite the Railway Station Central Entrance at about some hundred metres, right next to the Post Office building.
You may, of course, get a tax to Kraymorie.

It's very easy to find Plovdiv Guesthouse because of its central location on the main street of the Old Plovdiv district. If you come from the Plovdiv city center, walking on its main pedestrian street you need to get to the Central Mosque with the underground remains of the Roman Stadium besides. From there, beyond the small garden (the so called "Mosque garden"), you need to take the pavement street going uphill into the Old town. You go only straight and up and in about 3-4 min. walk you'll find the guesthouse on your right.

By train
Once you walk out the Central railway station you'll see a bus station in front of you. You may catch buses ? 7, 20, 26 (bus ticket - 0, 30 EURO) or mini-bus shuttle ? 2 (shuttle ticket - 0, 35 EURO). You need to get off at the 6-th bus station, the one straight after the tunnel - travel time: 10 min. Then you walk back for about 30 m (passing by the subway on your left) and take the stone stairs to the left, leading uphill to the Old Plovdiv. In another 30 m walking on a cobbled narrow street you ignore the first street to the left and take the second one, again to the left. In 60 m you come to a crossroad with the Balabanov house on your left. There you continue straight ahead and uphill. About 60 m further up you get to another crossroad with a high church wall and a bell tower in front of you. There you turn right and in about 35 m you'll find the Plovdiv guesthouse on your left.

By bus
There are 3 bus stations in Plovdiv:

1. Bus station "South", serving passengers coming from South Bulgaria and Sofia. Just across the bus station street there is a public transportation bus station. From there you may catch buses ? 7, 20, 26 (bus ticket - 0, 30 EURO) or mini-bus shuttle ? 2 (shuttle ticket - 0, 35 EURO). You need to get off at the 5-th bus station, the one straight after the tunnel - travel time: 10 min. Then just follow the same directions as in the "by train "description above.

2. Bus station "North", serving passengers coming from North Bulgaria. In front of the bus station you'll see a public transportation bus station. You may catch bus ? 21 (bus ticket - 0, 30 EURO) or trolley bus ? 3 (trolley bus ticket - 0, 30 EURO). You need to get off at the 6-th bus station, the one just before the tunnel - travel time: 10 min. Then you take the subway which you'll find on your left after you get off the bus. After about 50 m walking underground you take the right stairs and get up on the ground surface. Immediately after you take the stone stairs to the left, leading uphill to the Old Plovdiv. Then you follow the same directions as in the "by train "description above.

3. Bus station "Rhodope", serving passengers coming from the nearby Rhodope Mountains. You need to get down the subway beside the bus station. In about 300 m. walking underground you take the left exit and arrive at the bus station in front of the Central railway station. There you just follow the same directions as in the "by train "description above-travel time on the bus: 10 min.

By car
When you come to Plovdiv, you have to find the Tsar Boris III Boulevard in the direction coming from the International Fair. After crossing the Maritsa River, go straight after the first traffic lights. When you reach at a visual distance the tunnel of the Old town take the street going right (after the bus stop) and again the first left. It will lead you to Saborna Street where you will have to make a sharp left turn. Following the cobbled street after 300 m. you will find the Plovdiv Guest hostel.

By taxi

<b>From the Central railway station</b>

Walking:
- 25 minutes
Take 'Hristo Botev' blvd, in 5 minutes you will cross the bridge at 'Slivnitsa' blvd.
Keep walking straight to 'Makedonia' square. Landmark there is a very high building with 'Mtel' sign at its top.
Turn to the right and look for 'Caesar' casino and a 'Post Bank' office on your right. We are just next to the bank office.

By public transport:
- 15 minutes ride.
First of all buy two tickets - 1.00 lev (0.50 Euro) each (one for you and one for your backpack) from the nearest newspaper kiosk. Then take a tram No 6, 9 or 12, direction to 'Makedonia' square stop - the 4th (Ploshtad Makedonia spelled in Bulgarian). Look for 'Caesar' casino and a 'Post Bank' office there. We are just next to it.

By taxi
A recommended taxi company is OK taxi - written in dark blue letters on the motor hood. Distance to the hostel: 1.5 km, an honest fare is 5.00 Lv. (2.5 euro). You can find them in front of the MAIN entrance of the bus station only - it is 200m to the left from the train station.

<b>From the Airport</b>
Walking:
Too far & boring, not recommended!

You can use our pick-up service. Write us an e-mail with your flight number together with the expected arrival time.
For the pick-up we charge additional 20 Leva (10 Euro) during the day and 25 Leva (17.5 Euro) between 22:00 and 07:00.

By public transport: (20-25 minutes ride plus 15 - 20 minutes walking)
Buy two tickets from the newspaper kiosk in the terminal or from the bus driver (although sometimes the driver has no tickets) - 1.00 lev (0.50 Euro) each (one for you and one for your backpack).
Take bus No 84 or No 284 to the city centre. Punch the 2 tickets.
Get off the bus when you see Starbucks Coffee on your left and a park to your right.
Getting off the bus take 'General Gurko' str and walk straight until it becomes 'Alabin' Str. Follow 'Alabin' street, until you reach 'Makedonia' Square.
Look for 'Caesar' casino and a 'Post Bank' office there. We are just next to it.

By taxi:
To avoid scam go to the desk of 'OK Taxi' at the terminal and request a cab to our address. The distance to the hostel is15 km, honest fare is around 12 Lv (6 euro).

From Train/Bus station (which are side by side) you can catch a number 6 or 9 tram, which can take you within 200 meters of the hostel - it is the 4th stop on Hristo Botev boulevard. When you get off the tram turn immediately left onto Pirotska, walk about 200 meters then turn left again, keep walking about 100 meters and you will see the casino with the cowboy, and the Smoking' Pig is just behind it, on Bratya Miladinovi Str.

The trams are about every 20 minutes but remember to have the right change (1 lava will cover it), alternatively a taxi would be no more than 4 lava. When coming from the airport a taxi should be around 10 lava.

1. From the Train/Bus station:

A) Take tram 1 or 7 in the direction of the center and get off at Sheraton Hotel ( the fourth stop). Walk along Vitosha Blvd. to the Court House and turn left at McDonald^?'s. Walk down the right side of Alabin Str. until you reach a small arcade (next to antique shop, approximately 10m from McDonald^?'s). In the arcade take the first entrance(white door) on your left and the hostel is on the second floor above a small bar and vegetarian restaurant "Dream House".
B) Using Taxi - Get off from the Train station and take a look in left. You will notice a new modern building with buses in front of it, located approximately 100m. Go there, this is Sofia Bus Station. Next to the entrance gates of the Bus Station, you will see a small booth on the opposite side of the "Information". This is the booth of "OK Supertrans" taxi company. Ask the staff there for directions / they should speak English/, showing them the address. The taxi will stop in front of the Court House. Take a look at the opposite corner of the crossing where is McDonald^?'s restaurant. You will notice above it big signboard with our hostel name. Follow the above instructions.

2. From Sofia Airport:
----------------------
A) Take bus No 84 from the airport and get off at the last stop (near Pizza Hut). Walk along Gurko Str. which becomes Alabin Str. The hostel is on the left side in an arcade which is approximately 15m before you reach McDonald^?'s on the corner. In the arcade take the first entrance(white door) on your left and the hostel is on the second floor above a small bar and vegetarian restaurant "Dream House".

B) With Taxi - Go to "OK Supertrans" taxi company booth, located in arrivals terminal. Show them the address. They should give you a document for taxi order and will assist, guiding you to the cab or calling the cab driver. Ask the staff there for directions / they must speak English/. The taxi will stop on the opposite side of the street, where is located the hostel. Expect to pay between 8 or 12 BGN /Bulgarian Leva/, day or nighttime. Few meters further you must see McDonald^?'s restaurant. You will notice above it big signboard with our hostel name. Follow the above instructions.

!! Do not accept any offers of "taxi" drivers trying to speak with you directly. Most likely you will be cheated with 3-4 times higher then taxi rates. Regular taxi rates at the moment are around 0.59 Bulgarian Leva daytime and 0.70 Bul Leva night rates per km.
!! Please, pay attention that all reservations are keep no longer than 2 hours after given arrival time. If you feel that you could be late, please call us to keep the room/beds/ for you

HOW TO GET THERE

From the airport:
Take the bus number 84 to the last stop (25-30 min). Do not forget to buy and punch a ticket in the bus, because most probably you will be checked by a conductor few minutes after the bus starts (one ticket for you and one for your rucksack if it is larger than 60x40x40sm). When you get off you will have to walk about 10min along "Vasil Levski" Blvd., passing by the "Patriarch Evtimiy" monument and again following the street of the same name you will reach Sofia Guesthouse on the left side of the boulevard (see the map).
Another option is to take a taxi from the airport. It will cost about 7-10 leva (3, 5-5 Euro) depending on the traffic in the center.
If you wish you could order pick up service from STIC at the price of 5 Euro/pax.
From the central train station & the central bus station:
The two stations are located at a distance of just 150m from each other. So the ways of transportation to Sofia Guesthouse by public transport or taxi are all the same.

Walking it takes about an hour to get to Sofia Guesthouse (see the map): walk along "Maria Louisa" Blvd., then cross the bridge of "Slivnitsa" Blvd. and continue towards the mosque, located further on "Maria Louisa" Blvd. Reaching the mosque you will see "Sveta Nedelya" church (with green domes). Just in front of the Court House (on the right side some 100 m after the church) turn left and walk along the tram railway along "Alabin" Str. and "Graf Ignatiev" Str., passing through the open-air books market at "Slavejkov" square. Reaching the monument of Patriarch Evtimiy 250m after the square, turn right and following the street of the same name you will find Sofia Guesthouse on the left side just 350m after the monument.
Free pick up services are available upon request from both stations.

Using public transport you could get to Sofia Guesthouse by tram number 12. It passes along the same boulevards and streets mentioned in the walking version above. You have to get off on "Patriarch Evtimiy" station (for description of how to get to Sofia Guesthouse from this point see the map or the text above). Again do not forget to buy and punch a ticket or two (one for you and one for your rucksack if it is larger than 60x40x40sm). Pay attention for your wallet in the tram as the segment between the central train/bus stations and "Patriarch Evtimiy" station is favourite place of many pickpockets in Sofia.

In the town of Kazanlak (60000 inhabitants) you can visit the cultural and historical centre of ?Valley of the Roses.?

1. ?Iskra history museum and art gallery? - situated 5 minutes walk from the centre of the town in the north direction. The museum was founded in 1901. It has over 50 000 original exhibits grouped in several exhibitions, presenting artifacts from pre-historic through Thracian, medieval and Renaissance culture and life. There is also a rich collection of pictures of local artists.

2. ?Kulata Ethnographic complex? - It presents the rich and unique material culture of the Bulgarians from the Kazanlak region in the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. The complex includes houses from the Revival times, and old shop for gifts and souvenirs, a coppersmith?s workshop, studios of artists and violin-makers. It?s interesting to taste rose brandy and rose jam in the complex.

3. ?Thracian tomb? of Kazanlak is located in the Tulbeto Park. The tomb was discovered in 1944. It is listed as number 44 at World Heritage List of Unesco. It consists of a corridor ending with a round chamber. It is famous for the frescoes on the walls which show depicting scenes from the life of the ancient Thracians.

4. ?Museum of the rose? - It is situated in the northern part of the town, to the right of the main road, of the town of Gabrovo. The museum was founded in 1984. The history of rose growing and rose oil manufacture is displayed in three halls. It is possible to buy various essential-oil products here.

5. ?The monastery in Kazanlak? - It is situated 1 km to the west of the town centre and retains the atmosphere of the old times and people destiny?s.

6. ?Golyama Kosmatka mound? - Here, in 2004, a monumental temple was discovered
which has an impressive façade, a 13-metre long corridor and three spacious rooms. The first one is rectangular, with an arch-type two-slope roof. The second room is round, covered with a dome. The third, innermost one, was hewn into a huge stone block, weighing over 60 tons, in such a way that to resemble a sarcophagus. Numerous golden ornaments, greaves, a helmet, a sword and spear-gads were found in that chamber. In front of the façade the archaeologists discovered a magnificently sculptured bronze head that had belonged to a statue of a man. It is considered that it was a statue of King Seuthes III himself who was buried here.

7. ?The memorial church in Shipka? was built in 1902 with Russian funds. The crypt in the church treasures the bones of the soldiers who lost their lives in the defense of Shipka peak during the Ottoman-Russian War! The golden domes of the church are well seen from a long distance. In front of the church there are several gift shops offering souvenirs, works of artists, wood-carvers, cutlers and other craftsmen.

8. ?The monastery near the town of Maglizh? ? This is a very nice place which is 12 km to the east of Kazanlak and 2 km to the north of Maglizh in the green forest on the slope of the mountain.

9. ?Koprinka Dom? - during the construction of the dam in 1949, the ancient Thracian
city of Seuthopolis was discovered and entirely explored. That was the capital of the Odrysae kingdom during the rule of King Seuthes III. Now the old city is under water. It is nice to relax somewhere on the beach of the lake. The distance from Koprinka dam to Kazanlak is 5 km.

The Festival of the Rose:
It is held every year during the first weekend of June. The Festival of the Rose is one of the most remarkable events in Bulgaria, dedicated to beauty and to flowers, to spring and to the fragrance of the priceless Kazanluk rose. The Festival of the Rose was celebrated for the first time in 1903, and since then is traditionally being held during the first weekend of June. That is the season when the gentle attar-yielding Kazanluk rose comes to bloom, filling the air with its scent. Nowadays the Festival of the Rose has evolved into an international event, at which thousands of tourists and guests of the town are entertained.

Once you are at the bus stop at the village square walk 150 metres to the north (back to Kazanlak) them cross the small river along the bridge at your right. After the bridge go to the left and Villa Breza guesthouse is the last building at the left side of the street some 100 metres ahead.

How to reach from Sofia to Kazanlak:
1. By bus: You can take a bus to the central bus station in Sofia: at 10.00 a.m; 12.00 p.m; 14.00 p.m; 15.00 p.m; 16.00 p.m; 17.30 p.m. The cost is 5-6 euro.
2. By train: You can take a train at the central railway station in Sofia.

How to reach from Plovidv to Kazanlak:

From Train Station:

Walking from the train station to Yo-Ho-Hostel takes just about 7 minutes. After you get out of the train station building cross the wide street through the underpass and continue straight ahead.

In about 5 minutes you will reach the main pedestrian street of Varna (?Knyaz Boris I?).Turn on a left and you will see a large square and the opera house. In left side of it start 'Russe' Str. In 2 minutes on your left side will be the new house of Yo-Ho-Hostel- 23 'Russe' Str. , second floor. Ring the bell- you are welcome!

From Bus Station:

It is a 20-minute walk from the Central Bus Station to Yo-Ho-Hostel as well. Just take the wide street in front of the bus station and start walking in a direction towards the centre of the city, which is the opposite of the one from where the bus has arrived.

In about 15 minutes you will reach 'The Assumption Cathedral' on your right side. Only strait ahead you will cross a big boulevard('Hristo Botev') and on opposite side is KFC, theatre and opera house. From left side of the opera house start 'Russe' str. Our new Yo-Ho-Hostel is on number 23, second floor.

You can also take public transport from the Central Bus Station to Yo-Ho-Hostel. After you leave the station go through the underpass to reach the bus stop on the other side of the wide street (?Vladislav Varnenchik?) in front of you. The ticket costs 0.80 leva (0.40 Euro) and you buy it inside the bus from a designated person.

In winter, one can go skiing in Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo, and in summer - to resorts at the Black sea such as Golden Sands, Albena, Sunny Beach, St. St. Constantine and Helena, Sozopol, Nessebur and many others. One of the main reasons to go to Bulgaria is that a holiday in Bulgaria would cost you much less than a holiday in some of the main tourist destinations.

If you are arriving in Varna from the town of Sofia or from the Airport, you will be entering the city via the highway A2. Upon entry, you will be traveling along the Vladislav Varnenchik Blvd. Please drive straight ahead until you see the Cathedral "Santa Maria" on your right.
At the traffic lights there, turn left. Now you are on Maria Louisa Blvd.

If you are arriving in Varna via the Asparuhovo Bridge, please drive straight ahead until you see the cathedral on your left. At the traffic lights there, go straight ahead along the Maria Louisa Blvd.

After the traffic lights at the Cathedral, at the third lights turn right into Tsar Osvoboditel Blvd. At the next traffic lights, please turn left. Now you are in
Knyaz Boris I Blvd. with the Sea Park on your right. About 100 meters ahead, on your left, you will see the fascinating architecture of the ship-shaped Palace of Culture and sports. Then you pass by the Chayka Housing Quarter.

From the train station:
Come out of the main entrance and cross the street towards the OMV gas station and take the side street to the right of OMV (directly opposite the station entrance). Follow the street for approximately 150M.

When you reach the corner with the yellow bus stop on the right hand side of the road and the investment bank is to your left, cross the street.

The hostel is above the paint and hardware shop. Take the small street heading uphill, the entrance to the hostel is approximately 10M on the right. Follow the stairs to the 3rd floor apartment 9. The outside of the building is old and doesn't look too good but the apartment is new.

International Coach station :

We do not recommend the taxis here but they should not charge you any more than 10 Leva even in rush hour. We do however recommend the number 41 bus or 22 bus that run from the main street outside the bus station to the train station and then follow the above directions. The bus costs 0.80 leva, pay on the bus.

You need to be on the opposite side of the street from the bus station to catch the buses going the correct way- towards the centre. The main bus station has an OMV Petrol station outside it, you will know to get off at the train station because it also has an OMV Petrol station by it, there are no other OMV stations between the bus and train station.

Varna airport:
Catch the number 409 bus from the airport to the bus station , you will know it by the OMV Petrol station outside it, then follow the above directions.

If you wish to use a taxi avoid the taxi touts at the airport who will rip you off, a reliable firm to ring is +359 (0) 888 38 88 88 the normal charge is about 15 leva, they will need to know which terminal you are at. The bus is about 2 leva, pay on the bus .

Sea port:
The ferry port for Odessa, Istanbul and many more locations is approximatly 5 minutes walk, if you arrive by sea come out of the ferry port and head downhill then follow the above directions once you reach the train station.

It's easy to find our guest house. You have to follow the red reference points. If you arrive with bus on the bus station to the hotel Etar - left on the map, you may walk (less then 500 m.) over Gurko street to the other side of Yantra river.
If you arrive with train at the main train station it's better to get a taxi as it will cost you less then 2-3 BG leva or 2 euro. Just say to the driver: Hotel Kiev. Our guest house is in the street behind this hotel. You may also show him this map he will understand.

1. Where is Low Costel Hostel located?
We are located right in the centre of Veliko Tarnovo, just behind the tourist information centre and Bus Station, and only a 5 minutes walk from all the best bars and restaurants.

2. Is there a curfew?
No. Upon check-in, each guest is given a key to the front door. You can come and go as you please!

3. What is included in the price?
The price includes your stay in dormitory or private style rooms together with a back pack size locker for keeping your personal belongings safe. Each bed is equipped with blankets, pillows and linen. Toast, tea and coffee are available all day.

4. When are check-in and check-out times?
Check-in time is anytime between 8am and midnight, though rooms are not available until 1pm. Check-out time is between 8am and 1pm. Although bags can be left free of charge after 1pm.

5. What type of payment do you accept?
Payment is in cash only; Bulgarian Levs preferred. We are happy to except Euros and Pounds Sterling at competitive rates.

6. Where?s the best place to eat in town?
Without a shadow of a doubt the best place in town is Shtastlivetsa Pasta and Pizza, located on the main street. The enormous menu (in English) offers all sorts of cuisine both Bulgarian and Foreign. Another not to miss restaurant is the Architects Mehana.Serving traditional Bulgarian Cuisine in a cosy environment built into the rock face offering authentic fare, again at fantastic prices. Alternatively if you fancy cooking your own meal, the brand new fully equipped kitchen in the hostel will cater for all your needs and we can point you in the right direction of the best place for fresh produce!

7. What about nightlife?
Being a University Town with a student population of around 15000, ensures that bars and clubs are plentiful. On the main street alone, within a 5 minute walk from the hostel you?ll find Pepy?s Bar, Ulitsata, Bacardi Club, and Tequila Bar, which are the most popular bars each catering to a different taste in music. For clubs, currently the best in town is Bally; popular especially on Monday nights which is student night. Others clubs worth a visit are Joy, Scream and Organsa.

8. Is there an International Train Ticket Office?
Yes, as Veliko Tarnovo Train Station is on the main Turkey-Romania line there is a Rila International Railway Ticket Office located at 2A Kaloyan Street; a narrow street in between the hostel and the Tourist Information Centre. 9. How does Veliko Tarnovo fit into the Backpackers route?
Veliko Tarnovo is situated right in the geographical centre of Bulgaria and on a main railway crossroads; North-South Bucharest-Istanbul and East-West Varna-Sofia, and onto Greece. Meaning reaching us is very easy. All the following can be reached by one train/bus; Sofia (3 hours), Varna (3 hours), Plovdiv (5 hours), Bucharest, Romania (5 hours), Istanbul, Turkey (12 hours) Thessaloniki, Greece, (11 hours).

10. What?s the weather like?
Bulgaria has a temperate climate, experiencing 4 distinct seasons; summers are hot and dry with max temperatures reaching 35c; autumns are mild and pleasant; winters are cold, typically -15c with snow for much of January and February; spring is typically changeable with frequent showers.

We are located right in the centre of Veliko Tarnovo, just behind the tourist information centre and Bus Station.

When you reach the Mother Bulgaria square which is where the Post Office and Tourist Information Centre are located take the road to the left of the Tourist Information Centre, walk down here for a couple of minutes then take the first right into Assen Ruskov Street, opposite ?Hotel Central?. The hostel is number 6 which is the 3rd building on the right.

Getting here by bus:
From the Yug (South) bus station in Veliko Tarnovo. (For buses from Sofia, Varna, Plovdiv and Ruse) - It?s a 5-minute walk up the main road (Hristo Botev) towards town, then follow the instructions above.

The Zapad (West) bus station in is located 4km west of Veliko Tarnovo (for buses from anywhere else in Bulgaria). To reach the centre, take any of the following buses: No. 10, 12, 14, 66, 70, 110: Trolley Buses No. 1, 2. Alternatively, a taxi should cost around 3 levs (1.5 Euros) ? call ?OK Taxi? on 062 31111.

Follow the cobblestone street which ends up at a small square. There are two streets which lead uphill. Take the one on the right and walk until the road forks, take the left turning and there you are, walking along Rezervoarska Street!

From the Tourist Information Centre -
Turn right at the Tourist Information Center and continue along the main road where most of the traffic is going. After about 50 meters, when the street seems to end and veer to the right, continue to the right. You should see the post office on the corner. Continue along the main street about 7 minutes. On the left-hand side you will see the beginning of a cobblestone road that veers to the left. This is the beginning of the old town?s craft street. Continue along this street about 30 meters. At the beginning of this street where you see a cafe (it is called Stratilat) you will see a small set of winding stairs on the left. Walk up these stairs. After 20 meters you will see the hostel on your left.

Trinity Rocks Massif is over one kilometer long, made of limestone, with hundreds of bolted routes. It is visible from the farm and a couple of minutes away near the village of Samovodene. The situation is second to none, overlooking the beautiful Derwent Vally with its breathtaking views.

Trinity Rocks Samovodeneend. The routes closest to the farm are section A, 8 to 40 meters long and stay in the shade for almost all of the day, making it an ideal area for those hot summer days.

DIRECTIONS:
Trinity Rocks Farm is situated 8 minutes drive from the Centre of Veliko Tarnovo. It is situated between the village of Samovodene and Parvomitsi. From Veliko Tarnovo take the road to Ruse (Pyce) E85, after five minutes you reach the first village of Samovodene. Go through the village. Immediately after the Village, there is a right turn to Gorna Oriohavitsa. Turn right here and 200 metres on, at the sign, you turn right into the track. It is well sign posted.

From the opposite direction, E85 from Russe/Romania it is the reverse. Before Veliko Tarnovo and the village of Samovodene, you will pass a OMV petrol station on the left side. After OMV you will go under a bridge. A couple of kilometres down the road there is a left turn to Gorna Oriohavitsa. Take a left here and then after 200 metres take a right into the farm track.


By air

The nearest airport to Veliko Turnovo is located 10km away in the city of Gorna Oriahovitsa. It has the most modern equipment and works 24 hours, unfortunately it only serves cargo and charter flights from Europe, Africa and Asia.

Regular flights are available from all over the world to the capital Sofia and from there you can get public transportation to Veliko Turnovo. During the active tourist season (May ? September) charter flights are also available to the two big ports on the Black Sea coast ? Varna and Burgas.

By public transport

To get there by bus from Veliko Tarnovo, take a number ten bus to Gorna Oriohavitsa getting off at Samovodene or Parvomitsi. these run every 20 minutes from any bus stop along the main road running right through VT.

From the larger Bulgarian cities you can travel to Veliko Turnovo by train or bus.

Regular bus service is available from Sofia and Varna to Veliko Turnovo with the buss arriving at the ?Yug? (South) bus station or next to Hotel ?Etar? (depending on which company you?re using). The journey takes about 3 hours and costs about 13 leva, (£3.30)

The buses from, Ruse (2 hours) and Burgas (5 hours), arrive at the ?Zapad? (West) bus station.

You can travel from Plovdiv and Ruse directly to Veliko Turnovo by train. And from Sofia and Varna you can get a train to Gorna Oriahovitsa, from there to Veliko Turnovo you can get a connection train, taxi, mini bus or local bus line No.10 (distance to VT is 7km.)


Every day there are international trains to Istanbul and Bucharest, which pass through Veliko Turnovo. Also from Gorna Oriahovitsa train station you can get a connection to Athens or Belgrade.

By car

If you?re travelling with a car, Veliko Turnovo lies at the crossroad between E85 (Ruse ? Burgas) and E772 (Sofia ? Varna, with the ?Hemus? (A2) Motorway at both ends).
